Bandua

Bandua is a collaborative musical project between Brazilian-Portuguese musician and producer Bernardo D’Addario and Portuguese musician and singer Edgar Valente. Focused on weaving Portuguese memory and culture with contemporary global musical trends, they create electronic music that is grounded in place and roots. Their sound moves in a sonic space suspended between the digital and the organic, technology and tradition, dissolving boundaries between countryside and city, past and future, the local and the global. In ‘BANDUA II’ - the album set for release in 2026 - the duo begins a process of metamorphosis that departs from Beira Baixa and from the downtempo aesthetic that defined the first record, moving toward other territories and pathways. This shift seeks to offer a broader representation of the multiculturalism that has always shaped Portuguese territory. In this sense, D’Addario and Valente embody not only the heritage of a Portuguese ancestry forged through diverse cultural lineages, but also a generation committed to celebrating, absorbing, and expressing the wide plurality of global influences.
If ‘BANDUA’ was driven by questions of identity and interpretation - by what was – ‘BANDUA II’ turns to possibility, reality, and presence: what is. An album grounded in the need to accept otherness alongside the preservation of identity. A return to the past in order to make music about the present, with ears tuned toward the future.
