Zawa Zawa

ZAWA ZAWA is a collaboration between internationally acclaimed musicians and artists Lisa Nordström (flute, voice, electronics) and Mika Takehara (vibraphone, percussion) — a dynamic encounter between two expressive and highly individual artistic worlds.

Their work has been presented in a wide range of contexts, including Tokyo and Ashikaga (Japan), Art’s Birthday Party at Södra Teatern (Stockholm), Palladium with the Damascus String Quartet (Malmö), Nefertiti (Gothenburg), and CPH:DOX (Copenhagen), where they appear in the film Sonica Sequence. They have also been the focus of a two-hour live broadcast concert on Swedish Radio P2, and performed at Sommarscen Malmö and Vitlycke – Centre for Performing Arts, where they created live music for the films of Maya Deren.

Musically, ZAWA ZAWA moves seamlessly between composition and improvisation — an organic exploration of acoustic and electronic cinematic soundscapes.
